Dear BlueWave Community,

By now, the COVID-19 pandemic has touched every one of our lives, whether it be through drastic changes in lifestyle, illness, or financial hardship. While much progress has been made in our collective fight to mitigate the effects of the virus, the unfortunate truth is that the worst impacts are likely yet to come--particularly in under-resourced communities and countries with healthcare systems that may be entirely overwhelmed.

To this end, the BlueWave family extends our deepest sympathies and condolences to those who are suffering. We also offer our wholehearted gratitude to nurses, doctors, grocery workers, delivery drivers, first responders, and others who spend long hours of their days on the frontlines working to mitigate the COVID-19 spread.

During this uncertain and unprecedented time, the safety and well-being of our BlueWave families and friends remain our top priority. We are grateful that our business has allowed for a relatively smooth transition to remote working. We also take solace in the fact that we are in the community solar business and can offer individuals an opportunity to save money on their electric bills during such an uncertain time.

As we all navigate the challenges that lie ahead, BlueWave remains dedicated to providing the highest level of service to our customers, partners, and broader solar community. We’re taking proactive steps to ease the burden on our customers who may be experiencing economic hardship and uncertainty while ensuring that our projects remain operational and continue to add solar power to the grid. The sun is still shining, and the availability of cheap, clean energy may be more important than ever as we recover from the economic fallout of the virus in the months to come.

We are also actively working to support communities throughout New York, Massachusetts, and Maine where we have projects and community solar programs. We’ve made donations to local food banks, health care service organizations and medical centers who are playing a crucial role in the COVID-19 response and are particularly strained for resources at the moment. We encourage all members of the BlueWave community to lend support to these organizations if they are able, and we are currently rolling out a community solar incentive program that would allow new subscribers to donate their sign-up bonus to a local organization that is fighting COVID-19 in their community. While these efforts may only play a small part in our collective response to the pandemic, we hope they provide some relief where it is needed most.

There is something both unnerving and genuinely uplifting about watching the videos that have arisen recently of thousands of homebound individuals clapping together for their caregivers around the world. While the clapping for caregivers movement calls for us to recognize and acknowledge the very real risks that first responders are facing every day in order to protect our public wellbeing, it is also a reminder of the deep sense of community that can endure even in the most trying times.

We’ll get through this together.

Stay well,

Trevor Hardy
