Stand alone energy storage has a minimal space impact. At about the size of a shipping container, it is easy to find space for storage, even in land constrained areas. Communities often choose to develop storage in parking lots behind a school, or next to greenspace like a golf course.
The container has only a few parts including the battery stacks, temperature and fire safety controls, and a small computer to monitor the battery performance.
The potential community benefits from energy storage are substantial, including local revenue to landowners, expanded consumer choice to opt-in to renewables, a cleaner environment that is free of fossil fuels and robust job growth in the burgeoning cleantech economy.
