BlueWave is honored to have been recognized as one of the Best for the World™ B Corps of 2022!
B Lab’s Best for the World is a global program that recognizes Certified B Corps that have scored in the top five percent in one or more of the five impact areas evaluated on the B Impact Assessment: community, customers, environment, governance, and workers. B Lab sees the program as “an opportunity for the global B Corp community to exchange best practices, explore collaboration opportunities to continue progressing in their positive impact journeys as a collective, and work together towards the fulfillment of our movement’s vision.” As the B Corp community spans 79 countries, 154 industries, over 400,000 workers, 5,000 B Corps, and counting, we are enormously proud that our Governance score on our most recent B Impact Assessment is in the top 5% worldwide!
According to B Lab, “The Governance Impact Area evaluates a company's overall mission, engagement around its social and environmental impact, ethics, and transparency. This section also evaluates the ability of a company to protect their mission and formally consider stakeholders in decision making through their corporate structure or corporate governing documents.”
As our core values reflect, BlueWave prides itself on transparency and doing things right. In our most recent B Impact Assessment, BlueWave earned governance points via our transparency policies, which include Salesforce Dashboards that outline BlueWave’s financial, social, and environmental performance and is always viewable by the entire company. The metrics are reviewed quarterly in different forums and settings, including a weekly Wednesday Round Up meeting that pulls together the entire company for a half hour to get the latest news across teams and direct insight into company strategy through a monthly CEO update. In addition to our transparency work, we are proud to have a strong code of ethics, Whistle Blower policy, and multiple avenues for employees to provide anonymous feedback, questions, or concerns.
Our third recertification is coming up in 2023 and BlueWave already has plans to partner with the UNH B Corp Clinic to take us through the process. With their help, and through the work BlueWave is doing with professional DEI consultant YW Boston, we plan to make further progress on our anti-racist action plan, as well as focus more on innovative development practices in relation to dual use to increase our BIA score across the board. Check out our two-year Anti-Racist Action Plan Update for more details on what we’ve been up to, and check out a recording from NECEC’s Emerging Trends Series: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Climate Economy, to learn more about how we aim to be more intentional with our approach to working with Native American tribes throughout the project development process.
We’re both humbled and invigorated to be recognized as a Best for the World B Corp. BlueWave is continuously making efforts to improve and has every intention to maintain its B Corp status in the years to come.
